A 2-hour session, during which, I will guide you through the fundamental steps of the throwing process. In the first part, we will cover some of the essential theory and you will learn to prepare the clay. Following a detailed demonstration, you will then have the chance to create your own pieces on the wheel. The class takes place in my new studio in the Jewellery Quarter and is suitable for adults who are beginners or just want to try a new playful way of making.
Throwing is a messy business, remember to bring an apron and trim long nails as they can get in the way of your creative expression. There are more subsequent stages before a pot is fully finished. If you would like to learn about trimming, slip decoration, glazing, and firing you can book a further session. Otherwise, any work that you complete during the taster will be glazed/fired for you and be ready for collection in a month’s time.

Care
All Pavlov pots are made for daily use. With the exception of earthenware pieces, they can be safely used in microwaves and dishwashers, though care should be taken. Be mindful that putting your pots through rapid and sudden changes in temperature is likely to cause thermal shock damage – for example, avoid moving them straight from the fridge into the microwave or vice versa.
Returns
Return requests would be accepted within 7 days of delivery; although bear in mind that I can only provide a refund for the item cost. Any pots that you no longer wish to keep should be posted back adequately packaged and in their original condition. In the case of items arriving damaged please take photos of the parcel contents and contact me as soon as you can.
Postage
I aim to dispatch all items the next working day from receiving your order. Once the parcel is on its way, you will be sent a confirmation e-mail with tracking information. Collection is possible from my studio in Birmingham and can be organised after checkout. For postage cost and delivery times please see the table below:
