3-week Marbled Nestling Plates Workshop | Tuesday 6:30pm-9pm, 12th Nov-26th Nov

£90.00

Every clay bears a different story. And what better way to tell a story than over a meal served on a set of plates that you’ve made yourself?

This workshop will take you on an exploration of colour and texture within ceramics as you learn how to mix your own unique blend of clay and create marbled effects. We will then use the process of slab building over plaster moulds to make a set of three nestling plates – dinner, side, and dessert – showcasing the swirly patterns of your clay canvas. The last session will introduce you to the art of glazing in order to finalise your pieces, making them functional and food-safe.

Week 1: Clay Preparation & Marbling
Week 2: Making Plates
Week 3: Glazing

All sessions take place in our new studio in the Jewellery Quarter and run for 2.5 hours on Tuesday over 3 consecutive weeks. The course is suitable for adults who have no prior experience of working with clay as well as intermediate makers who would like to learn new skills.

Working with clay is a messy business, remember to bring an apron and trim long nails as they can get in the way of your creative expression. All materials and the firing of your pieces are included in the price. Please bear in mind that it could take up to a month after the end of the course for your pots to go through the final glaze kiln before you can collect them.

Care

All Pavlov pots are made for daily use. With the exception of earthenware pieces, they can be safely used in microwaves and dishwashers, though care should be taken. Be mindful that putting your pots through rapid and sudden changes in temperature is likely to cause thermal shock damage – for example, avoid moving them straight from the fridge into the microwave or vice versa.

Returns

Return requests would be accepted within 7 days of delivery; although bear in mind that I can only provide a refund for the item cost. Any pots that you no longer wish to keep should be posted back adequately packaged and in their original condition. In the case of items arriving damaged please take photos of the parcel contents and contact me as soon as you can.

Postage

I aim to dispatch all items the next working day from receiving your order. Once the parcel is on its way, you will be sent a confirmation e-mail with tracking information.
